Trying to find a balance between these two styles might make our advice sound a little dismissive of the not-main-storyline activities the game offers, but that’s not our intent. Horizon Zero Dawn follows the rules of open-world games: You’re not going to hit the level requirements for the main storyline by just playing the main quests, so you’ll supplement them with side quests and errands to boost your character level. ![]() If you’re not interested in obsessively collecting every thing or seeing every corner of the map (like we were), you’re the person our advice is for. There’s a lot going on in the world of Horizon Zero Dawn. Your answer is always yes and we totally support that. This means the “should I do them?” advice in every section isn’t for you. And you totally can and should if you want to - we’re going to go back and do every errand we can find just to have more time in the world. ![]() There’s a lot in this game to love and, assuming you love it as much as we did ( and as much as Phil did), you’re going to want to do every single thing. Let’s talk about the advice we’re about to give. You’ll unlock them all within your first few hours playing, but we’re going to discuss them all here. A few of the quest sub-menus are not available at the start of the game and will be revealed as you complete main storyline quests. We’re going to describe the types of quests you’ll encounter as you play, the rewards you’ll get for completing them, and which ones you should focus on. You can deal a Critical Hit on them once they are stunned and deal increased damage. Shoot the Daemonic Longlegs' Power Cell with a Shock Arrow to cause a shock explosion that will damage and stun them. It will inflict huge damage on them and put them in a Freezing State, in which they will receive more damage from any attack. Killing Daemonic LancehornsĪim for the Daemonic Lancehorns' Freeze Canister on their back using Freeze Arrows to cause a freezing explosion. Use Tearblaster or Tearblast Arrows to remove them faster. You can also remove the thin armor on its Blaze Canisters and make them explode using Fire Arrows. Killing a Scorcherĭisable the Scorcher’s mine attack by taking out the Mine Launcher on the Scorcher’s back, then use it against the Scorcher. You can then deal more damage on them by using Critical Hit once they are down. You can also knock them off with a single heavy attack, as long as you have the Knock Down skill active. Shooting the Power Cell on their back with a Shock Arrow will cause a shock explosion that will paralyze and damage them. The Radar and Power Cells on their back, as well as their Heads, are their weak spots. Target the Scrappers components to deal increased damage on them. Both methods will ground them, giving you a chance to do a Critical Hit. The most effective way to kill the Glinthawks is to shoot them with Fire Arrows and use a Ropecaster to tie them down. Get and craft what you can between quest objectives to prepare for the battles ahead. You will encounter a huge number of machines on this quest. That will be the end of the quest, and you will get your rewards. Go back to Keener's Rock and talk to the White Teeth Chieftain. ![]()
